PEG-NH2
Synomag®-D particles with hydrodynamic diameters of 50 nm and 70 nm and synomag®-S particles with a diameter of 100 nm are designed with PEG-NH2 groups on the surface for the covalent binding of proteins, antibodies or other molecules. They consist of about 80% (w/w) “nanoflower”-shaped maghemite in a matrix of dextran or starch. The particles cannot be separated with conventional permanent magnets, but in a high gradient magnetic field. The functionalized synomag® particles are supplied in water without any surfactants. Thus several conjugation methods can be directly applied, e.g. maleimide or SPDP functionalization of the amino groups for conjugation of SH-labeled biomolecules (see Technote 201 and Technote 202).
