Synomag®-D-Partikel mit hydrodynamischen Durchmessern von 50 nm und 70 nm und synomag®-S -Partikel mit einem hydrodynamischen Durchmesser von 100 nm werden mit Aminogruppen auf der Oberfläche für die kovalente Bindung von Proteinen, Antikörpern oder anderen Molekülen angeboten. Sie bestehen aus einem Maghemit-Kern mit „Nanoflower“-Struktur, der in einer Matrix aus Dextran bzw. Stärke eingebettet ist. Die Partikel können nicht mit Permanentmagneten, sondern nur im Hochgradientenmagnetfeld separiert werden.
Die funktionalisierten synomag®-Partikel werden in Wasser ohne Zusatz von Detergenzien geliefert. Verschiedene Konjugationsmethoden können so direkt angewendet werden, z.B. die Maleimid- oder SPDP-Funktionalisierung von Aminogruppen zur Bindung SH-funktionalisierter Biomoleküle (siehe Technote 201 und Technote 202).
