Plain nanomag®-silica particles are prepared by crosslinking of the dextran strands with silica nanostructures (Grüttner et al. 1999). They are especially interesting for high-throughput nucleic acid separation with permanent magnets. The nanomag®-silica particles are supplied in water without any surfactants.
