Iron oxide particles are available with gold labeling for the binding of thiolated molecules. The iron oxide consists of monodisperse iron oxide aggregates with a diameter of about 250 nm. It is mainly magnetite with crystallite size of 5 – 15 nm and can easily be separated with permanent magnets. The iron oxide shows a low tendency of sedimentation.
The gold-labeled iron oxide is supplied as aqueous suspension without any surfactants.
